In recognition of World Patient Safety Day 2021, we are honoured to be hosting the event A Vision for the Future of Safe Care: Maternal and Newborn Safety in the Age of COVID-19.

The event will be chaired by Dr Mike Durkin, Senior Advisor, Patient Safety Policy and Leadership from the NIHR Patient Safety Translational Research Centre. We are delighted to have the Former Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and current Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP and Nadine Dorries MP, Minister for Patient Safety, Suicide Prevention and Mental Health, joining us as keynote speakers. We will also be hearing from other UK and international healthcare leaders during the event including Dr Aidan Fowler, Dr Suzanna Sulaiman, Professor TG Teoh, Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, Darren Welch and Mandy Forrester, in a dynamic live panel discussion.

This year’s global event will take place online and focus on key themes emerging from the pandemic through the lens of maternal and newborn care, discussing the impact the pandemic has had on staff burnout and resilience, and the safety and psychological impacts on patients.
