CANDOR Part II: Leading an Effective CANDOR Current State Assessment and Gap Analysis

Dr. Donna Prosser is joined by Martin Hatlie, JD, Co-Director, MedStar Institute for Quality and Safety, Timothy McDonald, MD JD, Chief Patient Safety and Risk Officer, RLDatix, Aimee Samuels, DNP, RN, CPHRM, Patient Safety Officer, Director of Patient Safety & Clinical Risk, and Julie McCoy, PharmD, JD, Senior Manager of Pharmacy, Quality, & Medication Safety, Providence St. Joseph Health; Partner, Pacific Apex Law Group, LLP, to provide the second of a three-part series around the CANDOR (Communication and Optimal Resolution) model. Here, the group will discuss the background of the AHRQ CANDOR program, domains, and toolkit and assess a current state and gaps analysis process through the Samaritan Health Services case study. Thereafter, the discussion will focus on the evidence for the effectiveness or impact of a Gap Analysis process. Recommendations for using a Gap Analysis process to assess organizational readiness, strengths and challenges will follow.
