Challenge 10: Cardiopulmonary Emergencies

Improved outcomes for patients at risk for cardiopulmonary emergencies largely depend on the organization’s preparedness. Specifically, the education around early recognition of trigger signals, frontline staff and family member comfort in elevating concern, distinction of roles and responsibilities, equipment availability and accessibility, and the education around proper evaluation, prophylaxis, and, in some cases, life-saving support, are imperative groundwork steps. Our APSS Blueprints provide healthcare organizations with practical, evidence-based checklists and protocols to optimize care during a cardiopulmonary emergency.
