Strategic Development and Innovation in Healthcare, The Digital Aid Project
Anca del Rio is a sociologist and economist dedicated to advancing public health and socioeconomic development through effective strategies, sustainable solutions and innovative approaches.
Anca has a strong scientific background and global experience in value-based healthcare and need-based health innovation. She holds an international Masters of Science in Public Health and is pursuing a PhD in the same field. Her expertise is structured around quality, efficiency, patient experience and building resilient, patient-centered healthcare services and systems through tailored, digital transformation strategies. She is a specialist in systemic change management and digital capacity building (EIT Health Mentor and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fellow Graduate 2019), clinical governance, quality systems and patient safety (ISO 9001 Certified Quality Manager in Healthcare, ISO 31000 Certified Clinical Risk Manager for Healthcare Organisations and Systems).
Beside her diverse executive, advisory and technical roles in healthcare strategy and planning, Anca is involved with several international organisations holding honorary positions (Country Representative at EIT Health Alumni Network, Regional Network Chair at Patient Safety Movement Foundation, Young Forum Gastein Alumna, Member of the Quality Commission at SPIZE-Hospitals and Clinics of Central Switzerland), and is engaged in several activities to advance effective innovations toward health related Sustainable Development Goals.
Anca’s thought leadership is demonstrated through the launch of her global COVID-19 Resilience and Response initiative, The Digital Aid Project (March 2020), providing capacity building support on strategic initiatives for the identification and meaningful adoption of digital health solutions in mental health facilities, rehabilitation centres and nursing homes, during and beyond public health crises. Her passion to societal change can be easily identified through the various activities she is constantly involved in as a keynote speaker, panelist or in mentorship roles in Health Innovation and Quality (e.g. World Health Innovation Summit, MIT COVID-19 Challenge, EU vs.VIRUS, EIT Health Summer Schools a.o.).
Being multilingual and results-oriented, Anca is an outstanding stakeholder engagement enabler, who throughout her education, training and career (from research to healthcare delivery and governance) developed a passion for transforming health systems into resilient organisations, able to provide equitable, qualitative and safe healthcare by means of innovation, transparency and accountability.
